‘Happy New Year’ is a phrase that we are used to. You hear it several times at the beginning of every year and say the same to others. However, the fact that you are starting a new year does not mean that the new year will automatically be better than the previous year. Many times, when we start a new year, we tend to expect that things will be better for us externally. However, when you look in the bible, you will notice that those that experienced genuine positive change, did so because they experienced an inward change first, which translated into external change. Change is an inside job; genuine change takes place inside out and not outside in
The bible verse above makes it clear that God expects your future to be better and brighter than your past. As you continue your journey towards destiny fulfilment in the new year, God want to shine his light your way. So, what does it mean to have a ‘Happy New Year’?
Having a ‘Happy New Year’ means you become a better person through the effective use of the five tools of life that God has given you – Time, Talent, Thoughts, Trusts and Treasures.
The effectiveness of our year is directly proportional to how well we use the Time, Talent, Thoughts, Trusts and Treasures that we have at our disposal
1. Time: This refers to the period from when you were born to when you leave this Earth. It refers to the duration of your stay on this planet. For you to have a ‘Happy New Year’, need to use your time wisely.
For you to have a ‘Happy New Year’, #1 You need to use your time wisely
2. Talent: This refers to the inner-gifting and grace that God has given you. This includes your skills, abilities, and flair. The more you develop your talents, the more valuable you become.
For you to have a ‘Happy New Year’, #2 You need to develop your talents
3. Thoughts: refers to your paradigm and your mindset. Negative thoughts can never produce a positive life. The quality of your thoughts will determine the kind of year that you will have.
For you to have a ‘Happy New Year’, #3 You need to transform your thoughts
4. Trusts: refers primarily to your relationships. How do you treat people? How do you engage with people? How do people feel when they meet you? The quality of your life is directly proportional to the quality of your relationships.
For you to have a ‘Happy New Year’, #2 You need to develop your talents
5 Treasures: refers to your assets and resources, money and material possessions. Diligent stewardship of your treasure increases your chances of having a ‘Happy New Year.
For you to have a ‘Happy New Year’, #5 You need to be faithful with your treasures
